{Romance Review} Hard to Handle (Love in the Balance #2) by Jessica Lemmon

Hard to Handle (Love in the Balance #2)
ONCE BURNED Sadie Howard never dates a guy more than once-but Fate has other plans for her when it comes to Aiden Downey, the one that got away. Aiden loved her, left her, and broke her heart. Yet suddenly she's bumping into him at every turn, driven to distraction by his wicked grin and rock-hard body. Now she can't resist finishing what they started-as long as she doesn't let herself fall in love...

TWICE AS TEMPTING Aiden Downey threw away the best thing he ever had when he let Sadie go, and now he's determined to win back the woman he's always wanted. Sadie agrees to let him into her life-and her bed-as long as there are no strings attached. But Aiden's not about to make the same mistake again. Can he convince her to take a second chance on a once-in-a-lifetime love? (Blurb via Goodreads)

{Review}
"Aiden Downey spun his beer by its neck, the now-warm contents sloshing against the sides of the bottle." (page 1, line 1)
Aiden and Sadie have both been hurt, horrifically, by the people they're supposed to be able to trust, to count on, and that experience has colored both of their lives. When first see Aiden and Sadie in Hard to Handle they already have a past, a past where Sadie fell hard and Aiden broke her heart.

Their career paths cross and while they have to work together professionally, they also have to work together to mend their broken hearts. Despite all his faults Aiden is a good guy, trying to do the right thing, and hoping with all his heart-on-his-sleeve heart that he'll have Sadie back in his arms. Unlike the more emotionally open Aiden, Sadie is very reserved, very together and very determined not to get hurt, not to let anyone else get close enough to hurt her again, but Aiden is just as determined to win her. Aiden and Sadie have a hard road to their HEA but it's definitely worth the struggles.
