{YA Review} Into the Still Blue (Under the Never Sky #3) by Veronica Rossi

{YA Review} Into the Still Blue (Under the Never Sky #3) by Veronica Rossi

Into the Still Blue (Under the Never Sky, #3)
The race to the Still Blue has reached a stalemate. Aria and Perry are determined to find this last safe haven from the Aether storms before Sable and Hess do--and they are just as determined to stay together.

Within the confines of a cave they're using as a makeshift refuge, they struggle to reconcile their people, Dwellers and Outsiders, who are united only in their hatred of their desperate situation. Meanwhile, time is running out to rescue Cinder, who was abducted by Hess and Sable for his unique abilities. Then Roar arrives in a grief-stricken fury, endangering all with his need for revenge.

Out of options, Perry and Aria assemble an unlikely team for an impossible rescue mission. Cinder isn't just the key to unlocking the Still Blue and their only hope for survival--he's also their friend. And in a dying world, the bonds between people are what matter most.

In this final book in her earth-shattering Under the Never Sky trilogy, Veronica Rossi raises the stakes to their absolute limit and brings her epic love story to an unforgettable close. (Blurb via Goodreads)

{Rating} 4/5 -- I really liked it!

{Review}
"Aria lurched upright, the echo of gunshots ringing in her ears." (page 1, line 1)
Grief and loss and sacrifice and hope. I found Into the Still Blue a satisfying conclusion to the Under the Never Sky trilogy. I really enjoyed the first two books, Under the Never Sky and Through the Ever Night, my reviews are here and here. If you haven't read Rossi's books yet, go and do so, you won't be disappointed.

Nothing has ever been easy for Perry or Aria and that doesn't change. They have Hess and Sable and the aether to battle against and the fight is grueling and the price they pay is high. And that's all I'm going to say - go read it!

Perry and Aria are still one of my favorite couples, and finally, finally, in book three, we get to see them loving each other in the open.
"What brought you out here, Aria?" he asked.
She looked up, right into his eyes. "I needed to find you."
"I know," he said. "The second I left you, I felt the same way."
(page 79)
"What I was trying to say," he whispered, "is that I see you in everything. There isn't a word for you that means enough, because you're everything to me."
(page 277)

I'm sad that the Under the Never Sky trilogy has ended but I eagerly look forward to seeing what Veronica Rossi comes up with next.

{YA Review} Through the Ever Night by Veronica Rossi

{YA Review} Through the Ever Night by Veronica Rossi

It's been months since Aria last saw Perry. Months since Perry was named Blod Lord of the Tides, and Aria was charged with an impossible mission. Now, finally, they are about to be reunited. But their reunion is far from perfect. The Tides don't take kindly to Aria, a former Dweller. And with the worsening Aether storms threatening the tribe's precarious existence, Aria begins to fear that leaving Perry behind might be the only way to save them both. Threatened by false friends, hidden enemies, and powerful temptations, Aria and Perry wonder,Can their love survive through the ever night? In this second book in her spellbinding Under the Never Sky trilogy, Veronica Rossi combines fantasy and dystopian elements to create a captivating love story as perilous as it is unforgettable.

{Rating} 4/5

{Review} Through the Ever Night picks up where Under the Never Sky (my review) left off with Perry and Aria reuniting, but there’s no happily ever after. Perry is blood lord, Aria is still half dweller and they still have different gifts. Everything is against them.

They've also got responsibilities. As blood lord Perry is responsible for more than a hundred lives, Aria has to find the Still Blue and save everyone. Their loyalties mean their paths divide. The separation is heart-wrenching. Perry feels betrayed, and with someone whispering in his ear, he's jealous and doubtful. Things have also gotten worse, aether storms more frequent, raiding parties threaten, no where is safe.

It was great to see how far Aria has come from that scared girl thrown out into the wilds. She has become one of my favorite characters in YA, she's strong, determined, capable, she's afraid but she still keeps going.
"We lose and lose, but we're still here. Shaking in place, afraid of doing something. I'm tired of settling for this because I don't know if something better exists. It has to. What point is there otherwise? I can do something about it now. And I will."

And also I loved the deepening friendship with Roar, the love and acceptance and support they give each other.
I liked seeing Perry as blood lord, seeing his every day life, his interactions with the other members of The Tides. We get to see him make hard choices, to make the decisions that show us who he really is.

In Through the Ever Night there's more action, adventure, loss and betrayal and the maturing relationship between Aria and Perry. I can't wait to see what happens in Into the Still Blue.
