Brenda Drake, the youngest of three children, grew
up an Air Force brat and the continual new kid at school. Her fondest memories
growing up is of her eccentric, Irish grandmother’s animated tales, which gave
her a strong love for storytelling. So it was only fitting that she would
choose to write stories with a bend toward the fantastical. When Brenda’s not
writing or doing the social media thing, she’s haunting libraries, bookstores,
and coffee shops or reading someplace quiet and not at all exotic (much to her
disappointment).

This book will draw in every book lover; the libraries, the magic, the battles, secrets, friends, family, and love. I loved the premise, the whole idea that there are a race of people who are born to protect and defend, the battle for power and supremacy and interesting characters.
Gia's world is turned upside down with a book and a few words. She handles things surprisingly well, there's a big of denial, anger, betrayal, but she's also a strong girl who makes the best of what she's given. I totally related to her love of books, admired her loyalty and drive, understood her losing her mind over Arik, and was rooting for her all the way.
There are lots of twists and turns in Thief of Lies; the constant surprises keeping me turning the pages and wondering what terrible thing was going to befall Gia and her friends. Thief of Lies is a great start to an intriguing new series and I'm eager to see what happens next.
