{Review} Interesting concept. Great story. Great characters.

Ellie is awesome. She's gifted, smart, kick ass, brave, fearless.  I want to be Svatura. Svatura don't need much sleep, have awesome powers, have soul mates. What's not to love? Well, the murderous Vyusher, but there's always a trade off.

I liked the characters, especially the Griffin/Ellie dynamic and their bantering. The romance is sweet, the action is exciting, it was definitely a page turner; I just wish it had been longer!

Blue Violet is self-published and very well written and edited. There's a second book, Hyacinth, which I can't wait to read.

{Review} Beautifully written. Haunting. Intriguing. McQuein immerses us in her world, a world with a very different normal, of the light, the dark and the gray, where the things we take for granted, sand, stars, the dark, travel, freedom, are foreign.

The story keeps us guessing. Who's the bad guy? Who can you trust? Can the person who hurt you be the one who saves you? What is the Fade? The very idea of the Fade, the nothing and the everything. And when the truth comes out? McQuein makes sure that we're as devastated as they are.

There's not much of a resolution, we're left wondering what happens next? How do you cope? How do you make a life in light of what's happened?
